Quietly brilliant. A prolific and detail-oriented developer. Sometimes called Canadian (even though he grew up in the Carolinas) Lance is the one that gets called in to the middle of a project to finish and polish it. His work at &yet involves working on SleekXMPP, writing documentation, thoonk, XMPP dev, Python backend dev, and JS fronted dev. In fact, Lance was recruited by our very own Fritzy based on his work on SleekXMPP. He can work pretty much anywhere in the development stack - low level networking and protocols, server backend in Python, web frontend with HTML/JS/CSS. He lives in the command line for most of his work.
Lance is a Master of Computer Science—his thesis work was on using XMPP for job distribution for scientific applications running across multiple grids/clusters, and his academic focus was on algorithm/data structure design and compilers. The system he wrote was used to coordinate the largest proton collision simulation conducted by the Brookhaven National Labs as of summer 2010. Um wow!
He’s a member of the XSF (XMPP Standards Foundation). Lance loves Lego, and has a pretty large collection that needs to be shipped to WA ASAP.
